When I was at the hand therapy clinic and realized most everyone who wasn’t there recovering from a surgery or an accident was a nurse or worked in tech. That’s was a huge eye opener.
In early 2021, my back was getting better and when I started laying off the anti-inflammatory I realized my wrists were in real bad shape. I remember getting the wrist braces to sleep in and figured doing that would fix me. Still hurts, but not that bad, as I write this like 3 years later.
Honestly, the woman who sat in front of me a few times there, getting therapy with one hand, while using the other hand to talk to people in Slack was a huge influence on me not to ever go back to working as much as I did before the tendonitis in the wrists and the back pain forced me to stop working so much.
Why I Use A Split Keyboard
Split keyboards are great. Regular keyboards are terrible for the shoulders. Make sure you get one where you can change the distance so you can ease into it. The split takes time to get used to. You need to be able to adjust the split. Microsoft Sculpt is the reverse of what I wanted. Mechanical keyboard and sideways mouse made a big difference as well.
