A successful music video is controversial. It’s been this way since music videos were an MTV thing, not a YouTube thing. Right wing media am do other trolls lose their mind when they see a sexy black man dancing. I’m not trying to imply anything, but it does lead to predictable behavior. And it’s been an absolute joy to watch people walk into the obvious traps he set.
Lil Nas X is a 馃挴x Culture Warrior. He’s shitposted himself to a place of cultural relevance where he can center himself in the conversation by being the most fun version of himself.
He’s just the only one whose effective at this beacuse instead of saying no, no it’s not that, and in the process accepting the conservative framing . He’s saying yes and it’s sexy.
Most people respond to hate with hate, which is an automatic L. That’s the point of trolling. Self-love, saying no, I am who I am and that’s amazing is the long game response.
