I feel like Mastodon is based around the same kind of logic like “you shouldn’t look directly into the sun during a solar eclipse.” They are not wrong, doing so is dangerous.
One of my fondest childhood memories is when there was a solar eclipse when I was in elementary school and I looked right at it. The sun is fearsome and terrifying and the source of basically all energy on Earth, I respect it deeply.
Is this why my eyes are super sensitive to light? Maybe, I dunno. Witnessing the raw power of the sun, pouring around the moon’s feeble attempt to block out the sun’s light failing so badly that the sun is brighter and more dangerous is not something to miss. I mean, unless you don’t want to deal with extreme light sensitivity the rest of your life.
